Our Kitchen Remodel (Warning Images Maybe Unsuitable for anyone under the age of 50)

May 5, 2019 in Home Decor

Ell, folks! I hope that you are having a wonderful week? Today I wanted to share with you our remodel so far. If you follow me on Facebook you might have seen the images but things just keep piling up.

We live in an older home and when we moved in it still was not perfect for us. Now that we have the time and money we have decided to make it our dream home, starting with the kitchen. That means blowing out walls, ripping out the tile flooring, new appliances, new countertops and finally my island. Not to mention the drywall and new inset lighting. I think that about covers it.

I wanted to start my little series showing you the real side of “normal” bloggers. Those bloggers that don’t have the perfect home, or show you that untidy side. Bloggers are just like you! We let things go, we let things slide, but this month for our family everything changes.

We have lived in a home that actually the floors in the kitchen were off by almost an inch and a half in one corner. So let’s just say when I spilled water like I do many times, it always ran to that corner. My husband has been under the house jacking it up to the best he can.

If you don’t know what our kitchen looked like before here is an image where you can sort of see everything. I will look for better ones later on for this series.

So let’s see those nasty pictures shall we? **warning there is nothing pretty about these images, it’s the ending that counts**

So this is what my husband and I are living in for the next couple of weeks as we slowly put things back to where they will be now. My office is now going to be the mud/laundry room, and we no longer have a pantry in the kitchen like before.

Five Tips For Taking On A HUGE Remodel

  • Stay Calm
  • Stay Calm
  • Stay Calm
  • Stay Calm
  • Stay Calm

Once everything is done in the living room and kitchen, we will share 3D imaging with you so that you can see the entire space and maybe get some ideas of your own. As we continue on, I will not bore you with all the little details but show you a week’s worth of construction and then improvement.

What’s Going To Happen Here???

Our plans at a glance are as follows:

  • New hot water heater/move hot water heater
  • Move laundry out to the new laundry room
  • remove all flooring wood and tile
  • Replace with wood flooring throughout, how that the kitchen is open to the living room
  • Drywall everything that does not already have drywall on it (can’t stand dark paneling)
  • Drywall ceiling with inset lighting and new lighting above the island.
  • Build Island
  • Put island in and have all new countertops put on by CubCreek Countertops.
  • Stikwood the wall in the living room as a feature. This posting is actually coming very soon!!!
  • Lastly, we will do the living room ceiling and lighting.
  • I think that is it, but I just don’t know all I know is “stay calm”.
