I don’t have the best soap to use after a spray tan because I believe a body wash is a better option for your tanned skin. A nurturing, light-body wash won’t strip your colour or natural oils. My favourites are:
- Puracy Natural Body Wash Mrs.
- Meyer’s Clean Day Body Wash.
I use them every day, and they are so gentle on the skin and smell amazing. You won’t regret trying them out.

- Avoid using any kind of soap that contains exfoliating agents.
- Look for a gentle, buttery cleanser to use on your skin after your spray tan.
- A sulfate-free body wash is an ideal choice.
- Avoid harsh ingredients like parabens and phthalates.
- Avoiding harsh ingredients like parabens and phthalates will help the spray tan last longer.

When can I wash my face after a spray tan?
You can wash your face the day after you get a spray tan. You should wait to wash your face after a spray tan because it needs time to absorb fully into your skin.
If you need to wash your face sooner, use warm water and mild soap or cleanser. You can use toner or astringent on your skin as soon as it’s dry.
Pro tip: Do not use scrubbing mitts or similar devices.
Be careful washing your face if you have a spray tan so as not to remove the colour. Your spray tan should stay in place if you’re careful not to scrub off the colour-free solution before it has time to set and dry.
Should I use any micellar water after sprat tanning my face?
Micellar water is a great way to clean off your spray tan gently. However, you should try to avoid micellar waters that contain glycolic acid.
Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliant that will trigger your skin cells to turn over much more quickly than normal. This rapid turnover of skin cells may be one of the reasons many people find their spray tans fade more quickly than they would like.
Micellar water is made up of micelles (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. Micelles attract dirt and oil and thus can do a great job at cleaning your skin. Plus, micellar water has a no-rinse formula that helps remove dirt, oil and makeup while moisturizing your skin.
You should also avoid micellar water with heavy perfumes or colours that may stain your skin.
One of my favourites is Avène Micellar Water. It is a great option for all who want to remove dirt and excess oil without leaving their skin dry and dehydrated.
Can I use a loofah after a spray tan?
Loofah is a plant that grows from the vine, and you could use it to wash the body. After a spray tan, you can use a loofah, but you will likely see some exfoliation. Loofah contains a lot of fibres, and when you use it, the fibres help to slough off dead skin cells. But, this process can lead to patchy or streaky tan.
The loofah can damage your skin and make the tanning results look uneven. Thus, loofah can remove the fake tan by scrubbing too hard.
We don’t recommend using it or any other exfoliating product after a spray tan. It is best to use those types of products before a spray tan to prepare your skin for it.
Above we have listed some tips and tricks about taking a shower after a spray tan, so you can check them out below.
Will my spray tan look better after I shower?
We recommend you take a cool shower the very next day after your tanning session. If you do not shower, you will have streaks of orange on yourself because DHA does not completely wash off in one shower and can stick to patches of dead skin.
If you wait more than 24 hours to rinse off your DHA, you might experience a colour that is too dark for your liking.
Showering can help your spray tan from being too dark or looking streaky or orange. Yet, this depends on when you take a shower and what type of bronzer you have used. If you want to know more about this topic, check out our other blog posts.
Conclusion- Best soap to use after a spray tan
So which soap is best to use after a spray tan? We don’t know the answer, but we do have some suggestions for body wash. If you have used any of these products or others we have mentioned, let us know how they worked for you.
Personally, I love to use body wash after a spray tan; it just feels so luxurious. It doesn’t dry out my skin or leave a film or residue as soap. I also really like the Whipped Shea Sugar Scrub from The Body Shop. It’s thick and moisturizing, but it rinses off easily and doesn’t leave my skin greasy afterwards.
