Fall is an exciting time to get creative with the outdoors! In this posting I wanted to share some amazing outdoor fall decorations. It is the time that is swelling with smells and colors. It’s easy to work with the natural warm colors of fall; Bronze, Gold, and Red are just a few of the tantalizing colors that are associated with fall.
Even if you don’t have a “green” thumb for plants and planting, accessorizing for fall is easy! Here are some easy ways to get some fall color smoothly into your yard:
- Mums. Chrysanthemums are absolutely beautiful fall flowers! They come in all different fall colors, gold, brown, purple, red, and white are just some of them. there are also many different shapes and sizes, from small globe flowers to flowers with large, open, daisy like petals. Mums can be bought in a pot and set out on the deck or patio, or put out in the yard accentuating other flower beds or showcasing ponds or around buildings like garages or dog houses. They can also be planted in the ground and may be winter hardy, depending on what variety was bought and where you live, so you could be enjoying mums for years!
- Chopped wood. If you have a wood stove or burn wood for heat then you are bound to have some cut wood out back. If stacked neatly and in the shade of trees with leaves of gold or red, stacked wood is a staple look for the fall season. The brown color of wood blends perfectly with other fall colors for a natural look. Another possibility for a natural look is to create a pile of limbs and sticks. A big pile of sticks is also a wonderful home for many creatures, including chipmunks, squirrels, birds, and insects. When placed on the edge of a yard or near a woods, a large pile of sticks blends in very nicely for a very fall look!
- Pumpkins. Pumpkins, gourds, and scarecrows are fall symbols, and usually all in warm colors very fitting for fall. Gather pumpkins and gourds and set or stack neatly around the front entrance of your house to create a very welcoming fall greeting for visitors. Pumpkins and Scarecrows are wonderful decorations for vegetable and flower gardens. Place a scarecrow in the middle of a vegetable garden or likewise in the middle of a pumpkin patch. If you have children this is also a good way to get them involved by decorating with pumpkins: Let the children carve out the pumpkins and put faces on them and candles inside and then set the pumpkins out in the flower garden, faces forward, and let visitors look around your garden with awe!
These are just a few easy ways to get some color into your yard for the fall holidays and family parties! People will be impressed by all the color in your yard, and you will be able to sit back and revel in the simplicities of life.
