People always talk about how to make the house a warmer and more cosy place to be in the winter, but today we want to take a different approach. Did you know that there are some solid reasons why you should in fact keep your house cooler during winter?
Today we are going to take a look at some of the reasons you might want to lay off the heating this winter and instead opt for a cooler environment for your home.
Flowers might last longer
If you think about it, here is the perfect breeding ground for mould, and in the winter when it is cooler it won’t reproduce as quickly. As a result, if you have fresh flowers on display in your home they will likely last for a few more days and maybe even a week more than in summer.
You’ll burn more calories
If you are looking for a way to boost your metabolism without the extra exercise this winter, cool it right down and drink ice water. The cooler your body is, the harder it will have to work to keep your internal organs warm, and as a result the more calories you will burn. Ice water is also brilliant for kicking off your metabolism for the day and making your body work from the get go.
You’ll sleep soundly
Sleep is an important thing for our bodies, and you would think that a warm bedroom is the best way to get better sleep. However, often our bodies will relax more under cooler temperatures as the blood in our bodies is diverted to major organs. It means that your muscles relax more when it is cold and you’ll be able to drift off to sleep much more easily.
You’ll save money
One of the main benefits of keeping your house cool is that you’ll spend less money on heating. You can however choose to heat your home with a propane heater from a company such as Quarles Inc.; however if you don’t do this you can save money by maintaining a cooler home and instead wrapping up in layers.
You’ll keep away bugs
When your home becomes toasty and dry during the winter seasons, bugs such as spiders will be attracted to your home to get out of the cold. If you don’t like spiders and always wonder why they are in your home in winter – heat is the reason. If you can cool down your home during this season and keep heating to a minimum, you are much less likely to see spiders and other small bugs as they won’t come to you for warmth.
You’ll be more productive
One unexpected side effect of being cold is being more productive. You’ll notice when you are cold that you are more likely to be productive and be able to concentrate on your work. If you think about it this way: whenever you are warm in the bath, in bed, or on the sofa – you are more likely to fall asleep. By staying cooler, your body will be forced to stay awake and alert.
