With summer right around the corner, it is time to start planning vacations. This year is actually really busy for my family as well as work, so I will not be home as much as I usually am. Today I would like to share with you the perfect home solution while you are away or the perfect housewarming gift. Caséta Wireless is really the best solution to home automation when it comes to ease of use and reliability. Over the past couple of days, I have been testing and using the Smart Lamp Timer Kit, and I must say that it really has come in handy.

How To Use The Caséta Wireless Smart Lamp Timer Kit

Let’s start off by going through the steps it takes to set up your new Smart Lamp Timer Kit. This is actually the easiest kit that I have ever used when it comes to controlling lighting in the home. First off check out everything that is included in the kit! Everything you need to get started is included, such as your Smart Bridge, Lamp Dimmer, Remote control, and the power cord as well as an ethernet cable.

Installing The Dimmer

First, choose a lamp you would like to control. I picked on in the living room that is most visible to the road as well as a light that we use often. You will want to turn the light on and unplug it.
Plug the lamp cord into the Wireless plug-in lamp dimmer.
Plug the dimmer in

This is really handy if you don’t already have a dimmer installed on the light. I know at night I don’t want a ton of light while sitting watching TV but when I am reading, I like to be able to have more control over the light. This works perfectly!

Installing The Wireless Kit

This is where the fun begins. Included in your new kit, you will receive what is called a Smart Bridge. This is what helps you control the light using the Lutron Caseta app on your smartphone. Not only can you can also control your shades and other third-party devices using the Pico remote control or via your iOS/Android smart phone or tablet. You can also control using commands like “Turn on my lights” with Amazon’s Alexa and Siri. Now you can create light and music “scenes” in your home using the Sonos®- endorsed Pico Remote for Audio, which allows for one-touch control of any Sonos speaker alongside lights, shades, and temperature, when used with Lutron’s Caseta Wireless smart home system.

There is just so much that you can do with this bridge it is crazy!!!

To start installing your bridge connect it to your Wi-Fi router using the enclosed Ethernet cable.
Lastly, you will connect the Smart bridge to a power source.

Getting The App & Setting Siri

Once everything is plugged in you will want to download the app which can be found here. All the steps are laid out for you which makes it very nice. Here are a couple of screenshots just showing you how easy everything is.

Since I personally don’t have any other products I can pair with this I simply just set up Siri, which again was easy as hell. I called the light which I used “desk light” just to make it easy. Once this is input into the app test it out, ask Siri to “Turn the desk light off.” Ta-da. Easy right?

I love how much you can do with the Caséta Wireless Smart Lamp Kit. Literally, everything you need is included in the box and easy to set up. Once it is set up, you can pair other products you might have like the Honeywell Thermostat. The cost of the kit is $99.00 which I think is a great price for the tech you are getting and what you can do with everything. I had no problems at all using this kit or setting it up.
