Are you on a gluten-free diet or maybe just avoiding gluten as a choice? I am happy to announce that Walkers Shortbread now offers the first ever gluten-free shortbread! I just love shortbread cookies, they have to be about my favorite right after chocolate chip (oh but wait, Walkers offers a Chocolate Chip shortbread cookie *smile*). Joseph Walker started the company when he opened a bakery in 1898, in Scotland. Since then the Walkers have added products but, they still have the high standards that have grown the company into what it is today, being sold throughout the world. Walkers bake the most extensive selection of pure butter shortbreads available – they have many varieties and sizes to choose from, whether it be the familiar fingers, rounds and petticoat tails or something a little more unusual.
The new line includes three varieties of shortbread cookies, the Pure Butter Chocolate Chip Shortbread, Pure Butter Ginger and Lemon shortbread, as well as the Pure Butter Shortbread. Each cookie is certified gluten-free, no genetically modified ingredients, no hydrogenated fats and are vegetarian. You can’t get better than that when you are wanting to indulge in shortbread dreams.
Each shortbread variety is full of flavor, which at times, in my experience you lose when you are making a gluten-free product. I can remember eating Walkers Shortbread cookies when I was younger and from what I can remember there is not really a difference in taste, when it comes to their gluten-free line. Each gluten-free shortbread is made with the same amount of butter and sugar as the regular type, which makes it very hard to control how many you eat.
It is funny when I do a posting, I am usually sitting here eating what I am posting about, thinking about the taste and texture. I do this so that I can try to give as much information as I can. So now I am eating my last chocolate chip shortbread cookie. *cries a bit* The one thing that is prevalent about the Walker shortbread is not just how they taste but, how fresh they are when you take them out of the package. They have just the right amount of crunch and every bit is packed with that classic flavor.
So, if you’re looking for an amazing tasting, did not lose its flavor gluten-free cookie, certainly check out the Walkers line of gluten-free cookies. You can purchase them on their site for $4.99 a package, or get all three varieties for $14.97. For me these cookies sold their self, when I opened up the package.
