As this years products head out of production and into stores, there is a fast growing number of wearable technology. I always find that most of them are far beyond my budget, then I think to myself, “why do I need one really”. I think when it comes to technology and gadgets, I must have the latest and best. I have always been that way, but as price tags get higher, I find myself looking for better options. Casio OmniSync STB1000 is one of those options when it comes to a Bluetooth enabled watch. With a price tag only of $99.00 this is something that will not break the bank.
My first impression of the watch, was that it looks like every other watch I have seen made by Casio, minus the blue Bluetooth label. As you scroll through the modes of the watch you can find many time settings for around the world. This would be perfect if you travel over seas. It really is simple to just click the button and change the time to the region you’re in. This watch is unisex so it is a larger watch. I have freakishly small wrists and I have it on the last hole. Personally, I love over sized watches, because it is so easy for me to read. When I work out, I take my glasses off, so it is imperative that I can still read the time.
So what makes this watch different you might be asking? This watch has an enable music player operation and the ability to check personal fitness data from popular mobile apps such as Abvio’s Runmeter, Walkmeter, and Cyclemeter and Wahoo Fitness. It can display running pace and distance, elapsed time, pulse cycling speed, pedal rotations and can record up to 120 lap times. You also can get call alerts as well as email and social media alerts, through the watch.
Setting up the watch is easy as pie! Literally anyone can do it if you have access to your phone and the app store. Simply download the Casio Watch+ and set up your watch. To sync the watch all you have to do is hold down the power button, when you are in the time mode. Once you are synced to the watch you will see a screen that looks like this. This is where you can set your time and alerts.
The watch worked perfectly when synced. It told me when I had new emails as well as Facebook notifications and Twitter. The other great feature of the Casio OmniSync STB1000 is that you can control your music as well. You have to turn this feature on, but once you do, you can control your tunes. This is a perfect feature for runners, no more fumbling with your phone!
In all this watch is super simple to set up with just a few easy steps. All the features worked flawlessly and I like how it uses a standard battery. This watch will also let you know when it is time to change the battery as well. This sets it apart from products like a FitBit, which needs charging and is less water-resistant. As of right now I believe that this watch will run flawlessly on the iPhone 4-6. They just released an update so that the iPhone 6 will work as well. I do recommend checking out the Casio OmniSync STB1000 , perfect for everyday uses and more.
